Former Nigerian Olympian Ambrose Monye gets life for murder

Ambrose Monye a former Nigerian Olympian has been sentenced to life imprisonment in South Africa alongside Andre Gouws for the murder of Channelle Henning. They were sentenced at the North Guateng High Court in Pretoria. They had denied the crime for almost 2yrs but later confessed of involved in the murder of the 26-year-old Henning who was shot on November 8, 2011 after she had dropped her son off. The victim and her estranged husband Nick Henning were in a child custody battle. Mr. Henning offered Mr. Gouws 1,000,000Rands to have his wife killed and Mr. Gouws offered Monye 50,000Rands to find killers who would do the job. Mr. Henning was picked up by law enforcement agents in December. The killers, Gerhardus (Doepie) du Please and Willem (Tattoo or Pike) Pieterse are already serving 18-year jail terms, following their guilty pleas to the murder charge. The Nigerian Olympian said he is ashamed of his actions. Words used to describe him by South African investigators include “strong and dangerous” as well as the “kingpin of Pretoria’s underworld”
