Afrobeat singer, Femi Kuti is an award winning Nigerian musician, and the oldest son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. He was born in London on 16 June 1962 and grew up in Lagos Nigeria. Femi like his dad has shown a strong commitment to social and political causes throughout his career, but he differs in his religious views. In 2001, he collaborated with American musicians like Common, Mos Def, and Jaguar Wright, on his Fight to Win album. This album was widely regarded as the most influential Neo-Afrobeat album of the early 21st century.
Femi Kuti announced yesterday via twitter that he has signed a new management deal with Chocolate City. Originally founded as a nightclub in 1997, Chocolate City quickly became the number one promotions outfit in the Northern part of Nigeria and moved into the industry main stream in 2005 with the launch of the record label 'Chocolate City Music' by lawyer / entrepreneur Audu Maikori along with Paul Okeugo and Yahaya Maikori. Generally regarded as one of the biggest and most successful urban record labels in Africa, Chocolate City Music operates as a subsidiary of Chocolate City Group, one of the biggest entertainment conglomerates in Africa. Other arms of the group are Chocolate City Distribution, Chocolate City Events, and Chocolate City Media.He joins Ice Prince, M.I, Nosa, Victoria Kimani plus more who are all managed by Chocolate City.
