The Plateau State Commissioner for Agriculture Mrs Linda Barau, has confirmed the outbreak of the bird flu (a.k.a avian influenza) in the state. According to the commissioner, four farms have already been affected, with thousands of birds already isolated. Full post after cut............
She told newsmen that efforts are on to ensure that the disease does not spread to other farms in the state. She also noted that farmers have been advised to maintain a higher sense of bio security to avoid the spread of the disease. The commissioner said that she had directed the director veterinary services to liaise with farmers, while advising them not to panic as the situation was under control.
