Daniel Dion, 59, older brother to the award-winning Canadian singer Celine Dion died after a long battle with cancer last Saturday, two days after the death of Dion's husband, her representatives said in a statement. Daniel Dion, was the eighth born of the 13 siblings. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the La Maison Adhémar-Dion care center in Québec, Canada as posted on the singer's website. Surrounded by his loving family, Daniel Dion, older brother to Celine and eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion, passed away peacefully at the age of 59 years old.
After a long battle with cancer, Daniel leaves to mourn his mother Thérèse Tanguay-Dion; his daughters Valérie (Patrick Goyette) and Marie-Michelle; his grandchildren Matis and Laurianne (Valérie); his brothers and sisters Denise (Yvon Dodier), Clément (Denise Dumont), Claudette (Serge Gaudet), Liette (Guy Poirier), Michel (Danièle Corbeil), Louise (Pierre Tremblay), Jacques (Geneviève Garceau), Ghislaine (Jacques Talbot), Linda (Alain Sylvestre), Manon, Paul, Pauline (Marc Martel) and Céline; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23rd from 2:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-10:00 pm at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny. Funeral services will be held at St-Simon-et-Jude Church in Charlemagne a few days thereafter.
His final days were spent in the care of the staff and volunteers at the palliative care centre Maison Adhémar-Dion. In lieu of flowers, donations to the centre would be appreciated.
The family requests that in honour of their brother’s memory, their privacy be respected in this time of grief.
