4 Canadians And 1 American Are Among Those Killed In Burkina Faso's Terror Attack

Al-Qaida in Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) released the pictures above as the photos of the militants who carried out the terror attack in Quagadougou, Burkina Faso hotel last friday that left 22 dead and 30 others injured. The list of the 22 victims has been released. Burkina Faso's Interior Security Minister Simon Compaore released the list last Sunday, January 18, 2016. The list included 4 Canadians, 1 American, 3 Ukranians, 2 Swiss Nationals, 7 Burkinades, 1 Dutch, 1 Libyan and 1 Portuguese. Full post after cut..............

Four of the attackers were killed by security operatives. Two of them were light skinned and one was dark skinned. Eyewitnesses say the assailants were seen in a mosque behind the Splendid Hotel shortly before the attack.

Minister Compaore said the government has reinforced security across the country following the attack and urged the citizens not to verbally or physically attack people in Islamic attires. "Following the barbaric attack...some angry civilians began attacking people with a long beard or those who had covered their heads with scarfs." Compaore said.

He therefore called on the public to have confidence in the national authorities and to trust the defense and security forces who are doing everything possible to secure the entire national territory.
