Former WWE Champion James Hellwig known worldwide as the Ultimate Warrior is dead. He was 54. He made his debut in 1987 and quickly captured the attention of the WWE Universe with his comic book physique, neon face paint and aggressive ring entrance. While most Superstars slowly walked to the squared circle, Warrior sprinted full speed down the entrance ramp and ran circles around the ring before shaking the ropes like a man possessed. His biggest victory occurred at WrestleMania VI in Toronto's SkyDome. In front of 67,000 rabid members of the WWE Universe, Warrior defeated WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan to win his first, and only, WWE Championship. On that night, he achieved the rare feat of holding both the Intercontinental and WWE Titles simultaneously. On April 6, 2014, he returned to WWE for his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Three days later, the iconic Superstar passed away, leaving behind legions of Warriors with unforgettable memories to last an eternity. He is survived by his wife Dana and two daughters and the cause of death is so far unknown.
In his final address to fans after Wrestlemania on Monday night RAW, the Warrior said:
‘No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own.
‘Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath.
‘And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something that’s larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers – by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honour him, and make the running the man did live forever.
‘I am the Ultimate Warrior, you are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever.’
