Former Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, 93, is dead. Dasuki, who was the 18th Sultan died after a protracted illness, a statement by the Secretary, Sultanate Council of Sokoto, Alhaji Umar Faruk, said late Monday. The remains of the late former Sultan would be buried at the Hubbaren Shehu, Sokoto, after the afternoon prayer (Zuhr) on Tuesday. Dasuki was the first Sultan from the Buhari line of the House of Dan Fodio, he was deposed and banished in 1996 during the military government of late Gen. Sani Abacha. Prior to becoming the Sultan, he held the traditional title of Baraden Sokoto. The late Sultan Dasuki, is the father of ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki being detained by president Buhari for arms deal.
