Residents around Mararaba in Nasarawa state are spending hours battling a fire that broke out on Tuesday night at a market in the area.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Series of photographs taken by Daily Trust photojournalist Ikechukwu Ibe show residents attempting to douse portions of flames leaping into the night air.
The fire is thought to have started at around 8pm Tuesday evening.
Ibe, who lives in the area, was just getting home at that time and sighted smoke billowing into the air.

There have been no reports of deaths, and no evidence of fire service arriving on the scene, nearly two hours later.
