Four States Thrown Into Darkness As Power Grid Collapses

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), has announced that Rivers State and three other States in the Niger Delta will be in darkness for days.
The Corporate Affairs Manager of PHED, Jonah Iboma, who stated this in a statement, yesterday afternoon, said the blackout was as a result of system collapse.
Iboma noted that the national grid collapsed yesterday morning at around 9.30, explaining that the situation means that PHED was receiving zero power from the grid.
According to him, “this development means that most parts of the network in the four operational states are without power.”
He said the only customers that have supply are those served from embedded generation plants.

“PHED apologises for the situation, although this is outside the control of the company. We are, however, working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) towards restoring power as soon as possible”, he noted.
He appealed to all the states affected by the development to bear with PHED, as efforts are in consonance with government officials and security operatives to resolve the obstruction of public services.

”We regret all inconveniences experienced by our esteemed paying customers who reside within these affected states, we are working round the clock to resolve the issue.
”We assure our customers of our desire to provide efficient and reliable services at all times. PHED is empowering your future”, he said.
