TV’s Judge Joe Brown Begins Serving 5-Day Jail Sentence. He is serving his 5-day sentence for contempt of court after his motion for an appeal was denied. Full post after cut............ Judge Brown was briefly jailed in 2014 after losing his temper in front of a magistrate judge during a child custody hearing. The former TV Judge Joe Brown defended his actions, saying he would do it again. The jail-bound judge said in a statement before going behind bars: “I will not apologize for vigorously defending my client and demanding that the court follow the law. What I saw was a miscarriage of justice and I did what needed to be done. I will serve the time and I will continue to stand up and speak out for justice as I have done throughout my 40-year legal career.”
Brown is expected to serve out his sentence in the celebrity wing of the jail. He will cool his heels in a cramped 6×9 cell with a cement toilet and bunk. His few creature comforts will include toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash. When asked for a final comment on his way to jail, Brown said, “Black lives matter.”
