An American missionary worker, Reverend Phyllis Sortor was kidnapped in Kogi state Monday February 23rd by unknown gunmen. According to the spokesperson of the Kogi state Police command, Mr Sola Colins, the American citizen was kidnapped inside her school premises at about 10am. He said, "She was whisked away at around 10:00 am (0900 GMT) Monday. The kidnappers were "unknown gunmen...(who) came into the school premises shooting sporadically to scare away people before taking (the hostage) away into the bush."
