Had any of the two assassination attempts on the former Nigerian ruler succeeded, the violent reaction by citizens would have been widespread and deadly. The incident would have sparked violent conflict between APC and PDP supporters, between Christians and Muslims and between youth and security officials. The bombings were pure attempt to partition the nation but thanks to the General's security as they did a good job to save his life. They executed a perfect cover and evacuation maneuver thereby saving the General’s life. Having noticed that the perpetrator was anxious to overtake the convoy, the executive protection officials became suspicious and blocked the path of the suicide bomber.
