Philip Seymour Hoffman, was found dead in his apartment in Lower Manhattan Sunday of suspected substance abuse overdose. Police received a 911 call Sunday but upon arrival, they found Hoffman unconscious and unresponsive on the floor of a bathroom. He was found with a needle in his arm and several bags of drugs suspected heroin. The New York City medical examiner’s office is expected to perform an autopsy as early as Monday, and will include a toxicology report. Hoffman was supposed to meet a colleague Sunday morning but did not show. An associate went to his home and found him there.
In interviews, Hoffman acknowledged a history of drug abuse. R.I.P.
