Nigerian Senator Ndume of Borno State escapes Death from Military Bomb

Senator Ndume The Trent

The Borno State Senator said a military fighter jet bombed his cavalcade as he drove to his country home in Gwoza, the scene of an attack by suspected Islamic extremists Boko Haram in Borno State. The senator made the statement on Sunday saying that "Saturday's bombing underscored the seriousness of how the military endangers innocent civilians". No one from his convoy was seriously hurt.
The Senator said 4 bombs exploded around his convoy as he drove through the nearby village of Pulka, 500 meters to a military checkpoint. The villagers including children who had come out to wave at Senator scattered as the bombs went off and the convoy skidded off the road. He thought at that point he was being attacked by the extremist group Boko Haram. The senator said he was badly shaken by the incident, and he got in touch with the military, he was told the bomb attack was an operational blunder and that there was no intension of killing or harming him.
