Black Beauty Lupita Nyong'o's Skin Lightened In Vanity Fair Magazine. Was it done deliberately?

This is not the first time a black star has been given the lightening treatment. Beyonce's 2008 L'Oreal ad started controversy also when it appeared as if the company "white-washed" her skin and Elle magazine also was accused of lightening Gabourey Sidibe's skin for their cover.
